כי אתא רב יצחק בר יוסף אמר רבי יוחנן בעל שאמר גרשתי את אשתי אינו נאמן מנפח רב ששת בידיה אזל ליה הואיל דרב יוסף

Rab Judah said in the name of Samuel: Why has it been stated [that if a person said]. 'This is my son', he is believed? — Because it is in his power to divorce her'.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Since he could divorce her there and then and then liberate her from the levirate marriage, and halizah, he is also believed when he states, 'this is my son'.
